I'm not sure if this will go anywhere or if anyone will ever read this but maybe somewhere out there will find something I write interesting and/or informative.
My name is Patricia. I added the title of "mom" to my long list (worker, home maker, life partner...) just under a year ago. The thing that makes me unusual in the full time working mom category is that I have breastfed my son for almost a year, and I make him all of his food from scratch (with the exception of some snacks at school). I'm also extremely passionate about a number of things...the environment, natural child birth..even the American Civil War.
It seems like where ever I go people thing it is strange that I am not a stay at home mom. That some how I am missing out by not being there to witness every single moment of my child's life. The fact of our situation is that I'm not with him every moment of every day I have witnessed almost all of his "firsts". It isn't easy trying to have it all but I think that even those of us who must or chose to work outside the home and have it all while remaining somewhat sane!
